Sensation Montreal is going ahead as scheduled, on Sunday, September 5, from noon to 11 p.m. at Terrasses Bonsecours with the participation of Swedish star Axwell, who'll be doing an open-air set in the splendid setting of the Old Port of Montreal. Holland's Chuckie, New York's Jus Jack and Montreal's Steve Aries will also be part of the action, fueling the festivities with the sound of the finest house rhythms for 11 hours of vibrant partying. CHICAGO HOUSE LEGEND: DERRICK CARTER @WAREHOUSE [SAT SEPT 4]

This Saturday, September 4th 2010, Chicago house legend Derrick Carter will be spinning for you LIVE at Warehouse (4119 St-Laurent) with Dave Allison and Max Hebert warming up the dance floor for his anticipated arrival. One of the pinnacles of Chicago house music's '90s wave, Derrick Carter began DJ'ing at the age of nine, spinning disco records at family reunions. Born and raised in the western suburbs, Carter was into music from a young age, but during his teens Chicago's house scene sucked him in for good. Before long Carter became a strong presence in the city's underground dance scene. "When I got my driver's license at 16 my sneak ability was validated," he laughs. "I was a fierce bedroom jock for a long time. After you mix for the love of it for six or seven years, you get it pretty tight and you can take it on the road." He got by working at dance-music specialty stores like Gramaphone and gigging at parties. Later he landed regular DJ stints at Shelter, Foxy's, and Smart Bar. Though he doesn't spin much locally anymore, when he does he attracts large crowds. Most of the time he works in Europe, where he's become a minor celebrity among dance-music aficionados. Derrick's sets are rooted in house, but he freely travels outside club tastes, seamlessly incorporating old-school disco, soul, jazz and whatever catches his fancy.

1234 CELEBRATES 6 YEARS THIS WEDNESDAY WITH FUNKAGENDA

1234 as we currently know it is turning 6 years old this week and they're celebrating with a full week of special events starting this Wednesday September 1st 2010 with none other than UK DJ sensation Funkagagenda. Wednesday night's special "industry party" will feature the warm-up sounds by local rising star Scott James followed by a LIVE set by Funkagenda flown in specially for this occasion. You're invited to come celebrate Club 1234's anniversary with Montreal's club and bar industry in one of Montreal's most historic nightclubs.

Since undergoing significant renovations in 2004, Club 1234 Montreal has been revitalized as one of the most significant venues in Montreal nightlife. Club 1234 first opened in 1977 during the height of the disco craze, though the history of the building dates back much further. Built in 1859, the 1234 Club was originally a large home that has served as a place of residence for prestigious figures in Montreal history and politicians. In the early 1900's the building now known as Club 1234 was transformed into an elegant funeral parlor which remained for many years. During the late '70s and early '80s the building became the central hub of the Montreal disco scene as some of the most famous musicians of the era were known to frequent 1234 Nightclub while visiting the city. As the disco scene died down, so did Club 1234 which then became known as L'Espirit from the mid '80s to the mid '90s.

There were many attempts to revitalize the venue after L'Espirit shut down until it went under a complete makeover in 2004 and Club 1234 was reborn. Now, this 1,500-person capacity venue is among the most popular in the Montreal club district with its large main room and distinctive VIP lounge on the Mezzanine Floor along with world-class lighting and sound systems. The rich history of the building is not lost, however, and is fact embraced with antique architectural designs that act as the perfect contrast to its state-of-the-art renovations. Its high ceilings and large open spaces act as a testament to the times when the building was first built, while acting as a perfect venue to host well over a thousand partygoers in complete comfort. A chic '70s vibe is also present as the grand reopening brought a vibe back to 1234 Club reminiscent of the disco era with Studio 54-type aesthetic. Currently, 1234 Montreal is known for attracting the sexiest and most stylish of Montreal scenesters on a regular basis with its popular club nights on Friday's and Saturday's.

Danny Tenaglia has remixed and produced several sizeable club hits but still remains most well-known for his DJ residencies at the top New York clubs of the 1990s -- including Twilo (previously Sound Factory) and the Tunnel -- plus a spate of mix albums, several of his own LPs and a publicized feud with fellow super DJ Junior Vasquez.

Danny grew up with Motown and the Philly sound as a child, and learned to play guitar and saxophone. At the age of 12, however, a friend introduced him to the world of DJ mixtapes and Tenaglia became fascinated with mixing techniques. He began hustling tapes on the street and, when he was old enough, hit the Manhattan club-scene with gusto. On Friday June 11th, 2010, Stereo is proud to welcome back Grammy® award winning house DJ & producer Sharam [Deep Dish] for a very special edition of Stereo Fridays. Part DJ, part producer, part label owner, and one half of the well known house music duo, Deep Dish, Sharam (born Sharam Tayebi) first hit the big time in his partnership with fellow DJ Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia and their 1998 release Junk Science. Over the course of 15 plus years and even more equally successful releases, Sharam became a name to be reckoned with in the scene as hi star kept riaing higher and higher.

On Saturday June 12th, 2010, none other than Chris and Steve Martinez, better known as the Martinez Brothers will tear up Stereo's sound system like no other can! If you've ever seen the Martinez Brothers spin, you know that what separates them from the rest of the pack isn't just their skills, but their seemingly limitless energy and spirits. Music always played a significant role in the Martinez home: the boys grew up playing a variety of instruments - keyboards, bass, and mainly drums and percussion. They'd play in church, at home, in various bands around the Bronx. If you watch them behind the decks: they don't stop moving. Lean, lanky, all wrists and elbows and ear-to-ear grins, these kids look like they were born to move. They're practically climbing over each other as records flow together, one brother cueing up a track, the other EQing, the headphones passed back and forth, forearms intertwined, heads bobbing in unison. It's amazing to watch. It's even more amazing to hear.

Reflection Eternal, the groundbreaking duo of rapper Talib Kweli and producer Hi-Tek, collaborated on late 1990s singles and on the 1998 Black Star album with Mos Def before releasing their eponymous landmark album in 2000. Since then, Talib Kweli has established himself as one of rap’s premier acts, delivering stunning, uplifting singles like “Get By” and acclaimed, well-rounded and thought-provoking albums like 2007’s Eardrum. At the same time, Hi-Tek has become one of rap’s go-to producers, working extensively with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, G-Unit, The Game and Ghostface Killah, among others.

Now, after working with one another on each other’s solo material, Reflection Eternal has reunited for its second stellar sonic offering, Revolutions Per Minute. The album’s title has a double meaning, the obvious one being the number of times a record can go around on a record player. The other has a meatier objective. “It’s the idea of revolution through music,” Talib Kweli explains. “It’s the idea that people in today’s culture take things in YouTube-sized bites and clips and if it’s not in a clip or a soundbite or something that you can fit in under a minute, people don’t pay attention to it. The idea is: How many revolutions can you get accomplished in under a minute in a quick culture?”

Kweli’s disparate song concepts and wide emotional range are all seamlessly tied together by Hi-Tek’s exquisite production. His deft command of the sonic spectrum allows Hi-Tek to be in sync with any of Kweli’s moods or topics. “With producing a whole album, you have to sound like you’re three producers, at least,” Hi-Tek says. “When I produce an album, I’m Kanye, Dre, Timbaland and Primo, all in one. You’ve got to try to not be monotonous and at the same time keep the same vibe for the album.” It’s a vibe that Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek have been developing since they met mid-1990s. Kweli was drawn to the musicality, tone and muscularity of Hi-Tek’s beats, while Hi-Tek was impressed by the quality of Talib Kweli’s material.

CUBANA LUST HOSTS INDUSTRY TUESDAYS @NUVO NIGHTCLUB

On Tuesday June 8th 2010, Nuvo Nightclub invites you to kick start your Grand Prix week with none other than the girl that's got the internet going nuts, CubanaLust. On the wheels of steel are resident DJs Don Smooth, Jemz and DJ Daz hosted by Anthony G, MC Viza and MC Rain. Cubana Lust has never been a stranger to hard work, dedication or paving the way for herself. Being born to Cuban parents from Santiago in Cuba, but raised in Little Havana, Florida has definitely cultured her and kept her humble and well rounded throughout her life. Cubanalust, who is never the one to take anything for granted, has began making a name for herself within the urban modeling world with ease and positive results. After her results and efforts were noticed by some key industry insiders was when she decided to make modeling and branding her image a full-time job.

Many of Cubanalust’s fans can recognize her in popular car magazines as well as a few west coast music videos, but none of the magnitude of the Cuban hurricane that is about to take affect. Cubanalust has a certain innate passion and love for modeling and performing that is ever present as soon as the cameras turn on. She is definitely well on her way to giving the modeling world a run for its money. One thing that everyone can count on from this shining star is that she never stops working; she has a very committed work ethic and is not shy of facing any challenges that present themselves.
