This year, Sir Winston Churchill’s Pub, a staple of Rue Crescent and downtown MTL’s nightlife sphere in general, celebrates a whopping 50 years of being in business. And ontop of the hefty lineup of parties and special events they’re hosting all throughout 2017, they’re tapping into the Formula One races as another opportunity to prove what the last half-decade has established: that Sir Winston’s is the beating heart of Montreal pub life.

Starting at 9pm on Thursday, June 8th, they’re throwing an unmissable party of epic proportions to kick off the Grand Prix weekend. With one and only local DJ SWEETDROP in the house and $5 drinks starting at 10pm, this might just be the rowdiest night Crescent Street witnesses all year. Thursday’s bash will be followed by a weekend-long roster of drink and food specials and the hottest tunes 2017 has to offer, all for Grand Prix visitors and Montrealers alike to experience on Sir Winston’s ambient outdoor patio. According to their Facebook page, the SWC staff can undoubtedly ensure that “it’s going to be INSANE.”

Sir Winston’s lit lineup isn’t all that’s going down on Rue Crescent’s corner however. The CRESCENT GRAND PRIX STREET FESTIVAL is in tow and promises to be as action-packed as it’s been since it first set up shop in 1999. And this year it’s going above and beyond: for the first time ever, the festival will additionally be shutting down de Maisonneuve between Bishop Street and de la Montagne from June 8th until the 10th. The free-entry street festival is a race aficionado’s sweet dream, complete with driver appearances and opportunities to receive their autographs, racing simulators and racer displays, the infamous pit stop challenge, and a stage steered by DJs mixing music all day long.
